ARTIST STATEMENT “I am deeply honoured and very proud to have been given this opportunity to commemorate and honour Central Coast veterans. This has been a very special commission for me, awarded to me fittingly on the conclusion of the 5 year journey of the Australian Spirit Project. The project gave me an insight to the experiences of war and the sacrifices made by our veterans and their families. I reflected often upon the many stories that I was told over the period of the project during the process of creating this sculpture. I hope that this sculpture resonates with all of our veterans and their families giving them a sense of pride and recognition for their service. For me this sculpture represents an appreciation to all whom have served and to the freedom that Australians enjoy today as a result of their services to country”. |
